2-0

This past month has been pretty hard for me, trying to juggle sports and a butt-load of school! I have had to give up time with my friends and soccer for homework, but it's all worth it. I love school, especially geometry. I'm just too lazy to follow a schedule of work. So after a very stressful week, I decided I needed to stop and chill out for a second and think up some goals I would like to achieve this week.
A main goal I had in my mind was to find my passion for soccer again. I used to be slightly obsessed with it, but this season I was so close to quitting from lack of interest. I mainly wanted to quit because I felt I needed to focus more on school work, so that I could get a scholarship like Kaitlin. Well after putting deep thought into soccer, and about how I want to accomplish it, I knew what I had to do. I had to score. I hadn't scored in about a month, talk about painful.
Picturing me scoring got me a little excited, and I was already pumped the night before.
The outcome of the game was 2-0.

Let's put it this way, there is no possible outcome of me ever quitting soccer. It'd be a waste of talent and years of hard work to get where I'm at.
Luckily, my dad captured my two goals this game, check it out.

Essay Number 2 - Wave Rider

I watched the surfers for many years; ever since I was in elementary school. At first the
thought of surfing frightened me. I never thought I’d ever be to go out into the ocean and have to
control myself along with a board. It all seemed inevitable.
So years went by, and summers came and went. I wanted more and more to learn how to
stand on a board and let a wave carry me across the ocean. More than that, I wanted to see and
feel what was so amazing about this sport I had so longed to try. It wasn’t until five years later
that I befriended a girl whom would later give me an opportunity to surf with her. I seized this
opportunity instantly.
At age twelve there wasn’t much I was interested beside my beloved sport, soccer.
Whenever I met someone new we would always end up indulging in a conversation involving
sports. The girl I met, Brooke, surprised me when I asked her what sport is her favorite was. She
replied coolly, “I surf.” A couple weeks later I found myself on the way to the beach with
Brooke’s boards strapped to the roof of her van.
I can still remember the excitement and rush of adrenaline that soared through my body
like an electric shock when we reached the beach. As we waxed up the boards, I could feel the
anxiety building up inside my system. I just wanted to get out there and try it. I was beyond
excited. Brooke handed me a board and told me that whenever I feel a wave coming to paddle
like crazy. And that’s exactly what I did.
I have now been surfing for roughly three years, and have loved every second of my time
out there on the waves. If I’ve learned anything from surfing I would have to say patience and
courage. Learning to be more patient has helped me in many scenarios. There were incidents
when I was having an off day, and I just wanted to stop, but I managed to gather enough patience
and catch some pretty spectacular waves.
Courage is a must when surfing. I get scarred every time I feel a wave on my tail. To
cope with getting scarred, I find that paddling like crazy, and anticipating a wave bigger than the
one that’s about to hit me helps extremely. Surfing can get pretty dangerous, so you have to have
courage when you’re playing with something as big as the ocean. An instant when I needed to
find a lot of courage is when two of my sisters and I went surfing off Sun Set Cliffs, during high
tide. Many times, we almost smashed into the cliffs but we assembled enough courage for about
an hours worth of surfing.
It occurs to me that when one is surfing, they tend to find their balance and lose their
stress and tension that comes with the everyday situations that we have to deal with. Before,
when I was younger, I never thought I’d actually get the chance to surf. Now I surf as much as
possible; I would never give it up willingly.

Essay Number 1 - Independent Studies

Like all of my future essays, this one was mandatory. I had to write and explain the reasons I wanted to go to my current school. And this is what I said....

This year will be my second in high school. I have been homeschooled for the past five years.
Being homeschooled at such a young age caused me to lack discipline, and an intention span. This past summer I finally woke up and realized that the way I was dealing with school, was not the way to achievement. I hope to have a lot of structure and discipline here at Helen Hunt Jackson. Choosing three main reasons why I wanted to enroll would be to learn, earn my Associate’s Degree, and sports.

Like I said, being homeschooled I lacked discipline and structure. And not doing school work caused me to pass up good and valuable opportunities for learning. I may not have gained knowledge from text books, but I did happen to raise my people skills. My theory is, if I merge both knowledge and people skills, the outcome would be fantastic. I’m all about learning, and I’m hoping now that I am in a more structured environment; I will be able to learn to the maximum and beyond.

A massive reason why I am choosing to be enrolled in Helen Hunt Jackson is that I believe it will help me with earning my Associate’s Degree. With the organized arrangement that Helen Hunt Jackson models, I have come to the conclusion that it will help me juggle my sophomore classes and my college classes as well. My main goal before exiting high school is definitely going for my Associate’s, and I am really hoping to obtain it by the time I graduate.

The last reason is sports. Not just any sport though, but soccer. I’m a soccer fanatic, and have been waiting to try out for the Hemet High team since I was in middle school. The two reasons why I was not able to do so is for one, I was too young. The other reason is because I was not a part of the Hemet Unified School District. And unfortunately, when I was old enough, I was still not a part of the district, and could not try out. Helen Hunt Jackson gives me a great opportunity to play the sport I love.

All in all, I am very excited to start my sophomore year off at Helen Hunt Jackson. I believe I willachieve greatly with all the support I will have here. I do not believe I will get behind in my work, but if I do, I know there’s always someone who will be able to help me back on my feet again. In conclusion I would like to add this: Greetings to a new school year, at a new school.
